ROCKFORD, Mich. (Sept. 24, 2020) - Merrell, the outdoor performance and lifestyle brand, has introduced their Undyed Collection. The Undyed Collection is “Made clean to get dirty” and features all-white undyed uppers made with partially recycled mesh and natural rubber outsoles.

Compared to traditionally dyed shoes, the Undyed Collection employs recycled materials, reduces water use by 80%, and saves 50% overall energy through the production process*.

“At Merrell, we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality, durable performance products that meet the needs of everyone getting outside,” said Shaun Bohnsack, Sr. Director of Performance Product Development at Merrell. “We continue to evolve our manufacturing systems to reduce raw material, energy, and water usage in our commitment to protecting the trail by lessening our environmental impact. This season, we are thrilled to share the Undyed Collection, a line infused with sustainable materials and processes that doesn’t sacrifice the needed aspects of trail-ready footwear.”

Merrell Shoes

The line includes eco-friendly iterations of fan-favorite performance trail runners: Agility Synthesis 2, MTL Skyfire, and Vapor Glove.

  • Merrell’s Agility Synthesis trail shoe is renowned for its comfortable, lightweight fit and stabilizing grip, proving runners don’t need to sacrifice cushion for ground connection. Flex-grooves in the midsole are dual-directional and a rock plate protects alongside mountain-grade Quantum grip™, maintaining Merrell’s high-standard of performance footwear. MSRP is $120.
  • Built for everchanging mountain trails, MTL Skyfire is durable, lightweight, and protective with everything runners require to move fast through rugged environments. A molded TPU heel counter adds extra stability and the Merrell mountain-grade Quantum Grip™ rubber outsole ensures sticky traction. MSRP is $110.
  • Vapor Glove, Merrell’s most minimal trail runner, provides little between you and the ground for maximum freedom and connection underfoot. Hyperlock™ TPU ensures a secure ride while Merrell Barefoot 2 construction enhances proprioception and stability during variable movement. MSRP is $90.

“As a brand dedicated to sharing the simple power of being outside, we have a responsibility to protect our outdoor spaces,” said Erika Derylo, Performance Marketing Manager at Merrell. “We’re committed to a more sustainable path forward and the Undyed Collection is one way we’re putting our purpose into action through the implementation of sustainable processes and responsible materials.”

The Undyed Collection is now available online at Merrell.com. MSRP starts at $90.

*Compared to factory-supplied averages of shoes made using traditional dyeing methods. These numbers are all based on the average savings generated by Merrell’s use of undyed upper fabrics and laces of a Men’s size 9 sample.
