Leave it to the innovators at Loki USA to find a way to compete in the e-commerce marketplace without disrupting established distribution channels. The solution: Loki recently activated Shopatron, an online retail fulfillment service that gives Loki's network of specialty retailers the tools to fulfill online product orders placed by consumers on the LokiUSA.com web site.

“It was important to us to find an e-commerce solution that enhances our relationship with our loyal retailers while facilitating growth of our customer base. Shopatron does just that,” said Loki founder Seth Anderson. “Shopatron helps retailers make sales they might not otherwise have made - and at full margin - while allowing customers to get the styles and colors they want.”

According to Anderson, Loki had three core objectives in expanding its distribution to include online sales: Get Loki products to consumers who were telling them they couldn't find them, while most definitely not competing with the loyal retailers who had been supporting and helping grow the brand and, as a small manufacturer, without taking on the new responsibility of order fulfillment.

Shopatron takes an innovative approach to building business with retailers by leveraging the benefits of the Internet to help manufacturers and brick and mortar retailers work more effectively together. When customers click the “Buy Now” feature on the Loki web site, Shopatron instantly facilitates communication to the nearest retailer capable of fulfilling the order, thereby maintaining customer service and inventory control. Most orders reach their destination within two days. In addition to processing order requests, Shopatron provides regular updates about individual store sales history, maintains system-wide information about best-selling items, and aids in sales forecasting.

“Shopatron gives Loki an opportunity to connect new customers to core specialty retailers without expensive direct mail or print advertising,” Anderson said. “It's also a way for us to proactively promote sell-through for retailers while connecting consumers with personalized customer care from local shops.”
