Hilleberg the Tentmaker, a family-owned company that manufactures high quality, lightweight tents for all seasons, recently received the Overland Journal Editor's Choice Award for their two-person, freestanding dome tent the Staika. Featured in the summer 2008 issue, a total of six exceptional products were selected for testing in the magazine's review of lightweight tents for motorcycle or 4WD camping. Each tent had to meet a set of demanding criteria and was put through extensive and rigorous testing.

Overland Journal editor Jonathan Hanson's criteria for testing the tents was simple, yet intense. Does it protect against precipitation? Does it resist wind? Is it easy to use? And is it suitable for living?

“Your tent is your single most important piece of camping equipment. When bad weather hits, the tent is all that stands between you and a miserable night,” said Jonathan. “The Hilleberg Staika earned the Editor's Choice because of its quality, layout, convenience, resistance to abuse, and multi-directional wind stability. It is worth every penny of its premium price, and will provide a safe and comfortable haven for years of adventures.”

The Hilleberg Staika is a supremely strong and completely freestanding all-season dome tent that features an integrated vestibule design and three-pole structure. It excels on any journey where absolute strength is the highest priority and where terrain could create difficult pitching conditions. With two doors and two vestibules, the Staika offers tremendous convenience and comfort. At the same time it incorporates the lightweight yet strong Kerlon 1800 fabric and 10 mm poles, producing a superior two-person tent that weighs just 7 pounds.
