Bo Hilleberg, founder of Hilleberg the Tentmaker, was presented with Celebrity of the Year at the European OutDoor Show that took place in Friedrichshafen, Germany July 15 - 18, 2010.

Seattle, WA — Bo Hilleberg, founder of Hilleberg the Tentmaker, was presented with Celebrity of the Year at the European OutDoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany that took place July 15 - 18, 2010. Bo was selected by a panel of internationally known leading trade journalists and representatives of the industry: Klaus Haselböck (Land der Berge, Krems/ Austria), Piotr Turkot (4outdoor, Krakow/Poland), Mikko Hieta (RETKI – The Finnish Outdoor Magazine, Lahti/Finland), Christian Jaeggi (Black Diamond, Reinach/Switzerland), Martin Kössler (Scandinavian Outdoor Group, Gothenburg/Sweden), Jean Marc Pambet (Salomon, Annecy/France), Andreas Schechinger (TATONKA GmbH / BSI, Dasing/Germany) and Hans-Peter Rudolph (W. The Celebrity of the Year award is presented annually by Messe Friedrichshafen to honor the achievements of an important personality in the outdoor industry.

Bo Hilleberg is one of the most respected tent developers in the world. From the time he founded the company in 1971 to present day, he and his company, Hilleberg the Tentmaker, have worked tirelessly to develop the optimum design and function in their tents. A number of Bo‘s innovations are now recognized as standards for tents everywhere in the world, including his linked inner/outer tent design and the use of silicone-coated nylon fabric, which Hilleberg adopted in 1975. In 2000, Bo's daughter Petra Hilleberg started Hilleberg's U.S. subsidiary office, and in 2003 his son Rolf Hilleberg became president of the company while Bo concentrated on being Chairman and on tent development and design rather than day to day operation.
