Hadley Hammer | Jake Cohn: Newest Additions to Marmot’s Freeride Ski Team

Santa Rosa, (CA): Marmot announces the acquisition of two new talented skiers to Marmot's 2012 Freeride Ski Team: Hadley Hammer and Jake Cohn. Hammer (25) is a Jackson Hole native and resides there year-round. Cohn, also 25, is a Telluride native but now lives in Whistler, B.C. full time. Marmot's Freeride team, established in late 2010, is twelve-strong today and demonstrates Marmot's enduring commitment to snowsports.

Last month, Hammer placed top ten in the Freeskiing World Tour Championships. An avid athlete in several disciplines throughout her life, Hadley has been training at Mountain Athlete, a gym that specializes in core strength conditioning for skiing and mountaineering, to achieve peak physical and mental fitness for competitions and to play safely in the surrounding Teton backcountry (www.mountainathlete.com).

“Hadley trains hard off the mountain—I've seen it,” explains Alex Gilbert, Marmot's Athlete & Events Manager. “She emphasizes ‘the basics' at the Mountain Athlete gym. She's a true student of the sport. She's also contagiously enthusiastic about life, and her willingness to work is unmatched. Hadley is an absolute pleasure to be around.”

In addition to living the dream as a prominent free skier in Whistler and a committed local snowsports advocate, (www.unofficialwhistler.com), Jake Cohn has emerged as a role model for children with asthma. Cohn grew up with severe asthma and today works with National Jewish Health—the number one respiratory hospital in the United States—to demonstrate that asthma does not have to stop people from doing what they love. Cohn is also a Clean Air Champion (www.cleanairchampions.ca) and works to improve air quality adopting practices and lifestyles that enhance both environmental and personal health.

“Marmot not only brings the highest quality athletes to represent our brand, but also the highest in character,” adds Gilbert. “When I first started looking at Jake and Hadley as possible Marmot Athletes, it was obvious they were both pushing the limits of freeride skiing. But more importantly their commitment to ‘quality of life' stood out—not only for themselves, but for everyone whose lives they touch.”
