(February 29, 2019 - TOKYO) - Japanese technical outdoor apparel brand, Goldwin, today opened a new 676 sq ft brick-and-mortar store in Harajuku, Japan. It’s the third Goldwin store to open in the past two years, including Goldwin’s Tokyo store, which opened in November 2018, and, most recently, Goldwin’s US store in San Francisco, which opened in November 2019.
The Harajuku store represents a significant milestone for Goldwin, a 69-year-old maker of premium technical apparel label that is growing rapidly in both its homeland Japan as well as overseas in Europe and the US.
Exclusive to the Harajuku store will be a highly limited Goldwin capsule collection designed in collaboration with famed Japanese nature photographer Naoki Ishikawa. The collection, called WEA®SSETS, includes a down jacket and down pants printed with Naoki Ishikawa’s breathtaking mountain photography. Only 100 units per item will be made and can be purchased through pre-sale only.
“Goldwin is becoming a truly global brand, but we are proud to continue extending our roots in Japan,” said a Goldwin representative. “This is where it all began and where we draw so much inspiration from. Harajuku is very exciting to us because it’s a unique town known for its blend of cultures and trendsetting approach to fashion and design. Simply put, it’s a perfect place for a Goldwin store.”
The opening of the Harajuku store follows the launch of Goldwin’s SS20 collection, its largest apparel collection to date. The initial collection is now available for purchase in the US at Goldwin’s new store in San Francisco and online at https://usshop.goldwin-sports.com/collections/men.
The new products range from high-performance outdoor apparel, stylish city-to-mountain lifestyle apparel, and athletic apparel designed for the sweatiest pursuits, many of which feature technical materials from GORE-TEX and PERTEX. The size and scope of the new collection demonstrates Goldwin’s significant US growth in recent years, as well as its commitment to expanding its product offerings to US customers.
