GORE® WINDSTOPPER® products are probably the most versatile garments on the market: they are lightweight, robust, extremely breathable and offer reliable, 100 percent protection from the wind. GORE’s brand partners produce an extensive range of garments for a wealth of activities. These include pants, jackets, base layer garments, short- and long-sleeved tops, gloves, accessories, arm warmers and headgear. Designers are given many options but the ultimate focus I always on consumer benefits. More than fifty brand partners have risen to the challenge and responded to their customers’ needs in their own distinctive ways.

What should I wear? If you are about to go outside, wind and weather are a major concern. With a GORE® WINDSTOPPER® garment tailored to the activity and the time of year, you are best equipped.

Base layer: 1beats2 – GORE® WINDSTOPPER® product technology as one and only layer.

Presented by GORE® in Fall 2015 this concept was inspired by professional cyclists: on longer bike rides, cyclists often face a difficult temperature range of 10-20 degrees Celsius (50-70 degrees Fahrenheit) with varying weather conditions and work rates. Garments made with GORE® WINDSTOPPER® product technology are just as breathable as conventional cycling jerseys. All that donning and doffing of windproof cycling jackets (taking up time and disrupting the rhythm) has become a thing of the past as Gore has developed a new class of cycling jersey – a once-piece garment: “1beats2″. Combined with arm warmers, Gore’s “1beats2″ jersey offers the optimal level of comfort and protection in a broad temperature range. The lightweight, elastic 3-layer GORE® WINDSTOPPER® laminates, which allow you to construct form fitting jerseys, are extremely breathable, reduce the risk of overheating, deliver considerable thermal protection and are totally windproof. These styles are also the right choice for other highly aerobic activities such as running. Alongside comfort and protection, GORE® WINDSSTOPPER® “1beats2″ styles offer wearers the benefit of reduced weight and optimum body temperature management: a jacket is not needed and fewer layers mean better breathability.

Base layer: a base layer that shrugs off the wind – windproof athletic garment worn directly next to the skin.

To perform at their best, athletes need garments that also know how to perform. During highly aerobic activities such as cross-country skiing, cycling, (hill) running or ski touring in harsh conditions (cold, fog and wind) your body needs maximum breathability, plenty of freedom of movement and the right balance when it comes to protection. These base layers are often worn alone. One garment is usually more comfortable. This base layer garment will still offer you the weather protection you need. Base layer garments made with GORE® WINDSTOPPER® are specifically designed for active athletes who know exactly how their body works – and exactly what to wear.

Mid layer and outer layer: lightweight windproof running and cycling wear that packs down to a tiny size. As a backup to store in a backpack, on windy days or during fast descents, 3-layer GORE® WINDSTOPPER® jackets serve consumers well with the protection they need. Perfect for unpredictable factors such as the lay of the land, how exposed it is, how windy it will be, sensitivity to cold, or perspiration levels, GORE® WINDSTOPPER® garments enable consumers to be equipped for most conditions. GORE® WINDSTOPPER® products with light rain resistance also offer added value in situations in which you could get caught in a sudden shower.

Outer layer: function paired with style – for multiple sports, multiple situations, multiple comfort and multiple protection.

For some garments it’s less about extremes and more about range: the wealth of sports for which they can be used. GORE® WINDSTOPPER® technology significantly upgrades the traditional softshell – whether as a windproof laminate or with additional light rain resistance. Ideal uses: mountain sports, ski touring, mountain biking, hiking, or for everyday use on the way to work – on bike or on foot.

Outer layer: style paired with function – for an urban outdoor lifestyle.

Between home and work, university and café, bar and holiday house, much of your life takes place outdoors: peddling into the wind, by day and by night, walking the dog in the park or strolling with your friends and family through pedestrian streets. Urban dwellers want to dress to impress and flaunt their inimitable personal styles. They need garments that match their lifestyles and their jeans. Garments that promise year-round performance – without making you look like you should be up a mountain. The collections of GORE® brand partners like Herno feature GORE® WINDSTOPPER® products with and without additional light rain resistance, and with and without additional insulation protection – always ensuring the style suits the function, and the function the style.
