Denver, Colo. – Cascade Designs, Inc., the Seattle-based industry leader in the design and manufacture of premier outdoor equipment, has donated $5,000 to Big City Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to enhance the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformative outdoor experiences. The donation will completely fund one of BCM's weeklong expeditions in the Pacific Northwest in summer 2010, matching five urban teens with five adult mentors. Cascade Designs will also sponsor a one-day outing for urban teens in the Pacific Northwest in fall 2010.

"We are thrilled to partner with Cascade Designs to serve more teens in the Pacific Northwest,” said Hillary Harding, BCM Marketing and Events Manager. “This financial support comes at a time when youth need positive outdoor experiences more than ever. We look forward to a long-term relationship with Cascade Designs and their brands in the Northwest."

“The wilds of the Pacific Northwest have been our backyard outdoor playground since we started manufacturing Therm-a-Rest® mattresses here in Seattle nearly 40 years ago” said Joe McSwiney, President of Cascade Designs. “We're delighted to have the opportunity to help introduce these wild areas and the rewards of outdoor recreation to our urban youth.”

This summer, Big City Mountaineers will deliver 38 wilderness expeditions in California, Colorado, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and the Pacific Northwest, providing profound outdoor experiences to teens from the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Colorado Springs, Minneapolis and Chicago.
