Black Diamond Equipment®, a global innovator in climbing, skiing, mountain sports equipment and clothing, is hosting the 4th Annual Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA) Fundraiser on Thursday, May 30. This climbing, community event will take place in the parking lot of Black Diamond’s headquarters in Salt Lake City.

“We are excited to build on the success of the last three years and continue our support of the SLCA,” says Jonathan Thesenga, Black Diamond Equipment’s Global Sports Marketing Manager. “It’s a great event for the Salt Lake climbing community and highlights the important role SLCA plays regarding stewardship in the Wasatch.”

The Salt Lake Climbers’ Alliance is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Created to promote climbing opportunities, the SLCA preserves local climbing access and encourages stewardship of the environment. Located within minutes of Salt Lake City, the Wasatch Mountains are a climber’s paradise. The Wasatch host an incredible variety of climbing terrain, from long, multi-pitch routes in alpine settings to a lifetime of bouldering. Unknown to most climbers however, is the patchwork of private and public lands that make up the boundaries of this area. In the past, infrequent use of many areas kept access problems to a minimum. These days, visitation to the Wasatch canyons is at an all-time high, not only from climbers, but also from a large pool of user-groups. The SLCA works to alleviate potential access conflicts that may arise in the future. To learn about the SLCA or to get involved, visit saltlakeclimbers.org

The fundraising event will run from 6-10pm on May 30th and will include beverages from the Red Rock Brewery, food from Barbacoa, live music from Ajlishus, arm-wrestling and cratestacking competitions and a silent auction to benefit the SLCA. Tickets for $25 are currently being sold at the Black Diamond retail store, White Pine Touring and online at saltlakeclimbers.org. After May 28, tickets will retail for $30.

Associated sponsors include: Backcountry.com, Barbacoa, Bobcar, The Front Climbing Club, Jans, Liberty Mountain, Momentum Climbing Gym, Petzl, and Red Rock Brewery.

Please join us in celebrating the 4th Annual SLCA Fundraiser!
