November 16, 2010 - Vail, Colo. – Beyond Coastal sun care is the official sunscreen sponsor of the Vail Valley Foundation’s 2010 Audi Birds of Prey World Cup Races. The three-day World Cup event starts Friday December 3rdand runs through Sunday December 5th.Athletes, volunteers, V.I.P., attendees and media will be protected from the sun with products from Beyond Coastal’s premium line during the event.

“Being at altitude greatly enhances the potential for sun burn and general skin deterioration,” said Ted Wenninger, director of sponsorship for the Vail Valley Foundation. “With over 300 days of sun in Colorado, it’s imperative that people use a safe and high quality sunscreen at all times.” Wenninger relies on 1-ounce tubes of Beyond Coastal’s “Active 30” and “Natural 30” sunscreens as he skis. “The small size is easy to carry and, as such, I never forget it on the mountain.”

Beyond Coastal is recommended by the Environmental Working Group as a high quality sunscreen made with the cleanest, safest ingredients while offering broad-spectrum UV protection. It comes in three sizes: 1-ounce, 2.5-ounce and 4-ounce tubes. Since sunscreen is a necessary item that is often left at home or in the car, the tubes are great point-of-purchase items to be sold by mountainside vendors.

American spectators have the rare opportunity to take in a men’s World Cup as Birds of Prey is the lone U.S. stop in the series. Fans can take in the action for free and watch racers compete in various events, including the Downhill, Super G and the Giant Slalom. Carlo Janka, the Swiss skier who won all three events last year, plans to return this year and attempt to retain his title. Americans Bode Miller and Ted Ligety along with international stars Aksel Lund Svindal and Didier Cuche, will also compete.

Fans can take part in the Birds of Prey event expo at the resort’s base area where Beyond Coastal will be exhibiting, providing skiers and riders with foil packet samples as well as “serve yourself” pump containers. Lance Meller, Beyond Coastal’s national sales manager, will be manning the exhibit between carving lines on the mountain.

Beyond Coastal is the exclusive sunscreen sponsor of the Vail Valley’s other major athletic events including the Teva Mountain Games and the Korbel American Ski Classic.
