PARK CITY, UTAH—Sporting Goods Business's (SGB) Top 40 Under 40 award program was created to “...honor the best and brightest future leaders of the sporting goods industry.†Little did SGB know how soon that bold prediction would come true. Just two days after Backcountry.com's Vice President of Product Management, Jill Layfield, was told she'd be a recipient of the Top 40 Under 40 award, she was introduced to her colleagues as their new Chief Operating Officer.
The promotion and the Top 40 Under 40 award were both in recognition of Jill's ability to lead Backcountry.com in the pursuit of innovative ecommerce solutions. Her focus on creative ideas and business solutions — resulting in a remarkable user experience — keeps her teams constantly fired up to deliver above-and-beyond their customers' expectations.
“I'm mostly humbled that my colleagues nominated me,†said Jill. “This year was challenging for retail in general, and it's not my effort that brought us through strong; it's our effort. This recognition should be shared by the whole company.â€
From footwear and apparel to retail, outdoor, team sports, public relations, media, Wall Street and sports marketing, SGB's list of Top 40 Under 40 recipients embody the spirit of the sports and outdoor market. The recipients, selected out of a list of over 300 nominations by a panel of SportsOneSource analysts and editors and a team of industry executives, will be honored during a weekend event in South Beach Miami, FL May 21 - 23, 2010.
From all of the Backcountry.com team, congrats, Jill.
