LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – adidas Outdoor, the athletic brand in the outdoors with highly focused performance footwear and apparel for men and women, is reinforcing its support of women in the outdoor community through its expanded partnership with the Outdoor Industry Women's Coalition (OIWC), dedicated to the advocacy, education and resources for women in the outdoor, bike and snowsports industries. This October, OIWC will host the last of a three-part education series with Joe Prebich, director of marketing at Zeal Optics, in Boulder, Colo. and Liz Robert, CEO of Terry Precision Bicycling in Reading, Mass., as keynote speakers. The Education Series, focusing on “change for your business,” continues as OIWC's most popular events and are held at REI stores across the country.

“Women are a vibrant part of the outdoor community and integral to its future growth,” said Larry Harrison, OIWC's first male board member and director of sales at adidas Outdoor North America. “OIWC provides women with the tools they need to excel, and this seminar series is a perfect example. These sessions have not only been educational but have also enabled us to meet truly inspirational women who have become friends and supporters of our brand.”

The October OIWC professional development seminars follow two successful June events held in Salt Lake City and Portland with more than 75 attendees. At each event, adidas Outdoor partners with GORE-TEX to provide participants with adidas Outdoor GORE-TEX and WINDSTOPPER jackets and adidas Outdoor GORE-TEX footwear.

In 2013, adidas is planning to continue its sponsorship with OIWC to host events in seven regions with plans to increase to eight regions by 2014 due to increased demand.

About adidas Outdoor: adidas Outdoor is the athletic brand in the outdoors. The company's founder, Adi Dassler, designed equipment solutions for athletes that improved their performance. The long history of adidas Outdoor began in the 1970's with the creation of the first light trekking shoes. Climbing legend Reinhold Messner helped adidas design super light and fast approach hiking shoes for his first Everest ascent without supplemental oxygen in 1978. The tradition continues today with products influenced by Messner, as well as Alexander and Thomas Huber and many additional extreme outdoor adventurers from around the world.
