OIA names industry leaders to search committee for new executive director

Find out who will help lead the search for Frank Hugelmeyer's replacement at OIA.

After the abrupt departure of its longtime president and CEO Frank Hugelmeyer two weeks ago, the Outdoor Industry Association named members to a search committee tasked to help find his replacement.

OIA officials added that they “will shortly identify an interim executive director” for the position, which has been vacant since Hugelmeyer left on Oct. 3.

The search committee for a long-term replacement will include:

>> Jennifer Mull, CEO of Backwoods and OIA chair

>> Bob Holding, co-founder of Waypoint Outdoor

>> Nora Stowell, vice president of sales at Amer Sports

>> Mark Satkiewicz, president of SmartWool

>> Jim Zwiers, president of Wolverine World Wide’s international group

“The hiring committee will be focused on finding a leader who can build on Frank’s legacy and implement the OIA strategic plan, with its emphasis on the top three challenges facing the outdoor industry today: the changing consumer base, supply chain resiliency and transparency and access to recreation,” OIA officials stated.

“The board is very focused on helping members anticipate and prepare for the consumers of the future,” said Jennifer Mull, OIA board chair. “The outdoor industry has changed more in the last five years than in any other time in its history. Our association is well-positioned to help guide our members so that we can adapt our supply chains, business models and public policy initiatives to ensure the growth and long-term health of our industry and the lifestyles and livelihoods it supports.”
