Med-Fit Systems, owner of Nautilus commercial fitness equipment, is putting the assets up for sale after four years of ownership.

Nautilus commercial is separate from the home fitness side of the brand, which is separately run by Nautilus Inc.

Med-Fit purchased the commercial assets from Nautilus Inc. in February 2010.

The commercial assets for sale include the tooling, machinery and employment base in Independence, Virginia, as well as the land and buildings.

“Med-Fit Systems saved this iconic brand and, after four years of putting a new foundation in place, it is now time for the right partner to build upon this foundation and take the company to new heights,” officials said in a statement.

Under Med-Fit, Nautilus commercial introduced several new products and returned manufacturing from overseas to Virginia and “allowed for the ‘Made in the U.S.A.’ stamp on virtually all our products,” officials said.

“While Med-Fit Systems is committed to keeping its employees working in Virginia, a recent slowdown in sales trends required the seasonal adjustment of staff at our manufacturing facility. At the same time, the ownership decided to put Nautilus commercial assets up for sale," officials said. "Med-Fit Systems expects that a synergistic partner will be able to take the company to the next level with the appropriate capitalization needed to excel in the highly competitive global marketplace.”
