Last year, 17 hikers chosen for the Grounds Keepers program laced up their hiking boots and set out to clean up iconic trails. They removed 1,117 pounds of trash from the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail, and more.

This year, Granite Gear is also looking to add more diversity to the 2018 team. Celebrating that the outdoors is for everyone, Granite Gear’s Grounds Keepers team will strive to represent all enthusiasts of the outdoors – regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.

“It’s about respect – for our planet and for one another. Our passions lie in protecting and cleaning up our public lands and promoting diversity and inclusion in the great outdoors,” says Rob Coughlin, VP of sales and marketing. “We hope to form a Grounds Keepers team of 25 diverse individuals who share our values and can effectively tell their stories in order to inspire thousands to better respect each other and our planet.”

So, if you’re tired of seeing toilet paper and granola bar wrappers on your favorite trail, here’s your chance to do something about. You’re out there hiking, anyway, why not make a difference. The 25 people selected for the Ground Keepers team will get featured on Instagram and in the Granite Gear journal.

The application ends today, so apply now and spread the word. The team will be selected and announced in late January.
