Mountain Safety Research has issued a product recall in response to reports of leaking cans of MSR White Gas from one batch: #2003-2 (you can find the batch number on the front of the can directly under the words "1 Quart / 95 Liter" near the bottom of the label.) The fuel batch in question shipped to dealers between March 11 and June 4, 2002. The recall, being conducted in cooperation with the company's fuel supplier -- 3E Company, was initiated following an investigation that determined the cans in question could corrode and leak, leading to a severe fire hazard. MSR recommends that all fuel -- not just those canisters being recalled -- be stored in fire-safe storage cabinets. For more information call MSR's toll free customer service number: 800-527-1527. If you have a spill involving MSR White Gas and need technical information, call the 3E Company at 800-451-8346.
