Safe Outside aims to tackle the problem of sexual harassment and assault in the outdoor community.
#SafeOutside is the movement started by the climbing community—Alpinist, Access Fund, American Mountain Guides Association, and others—and two data scientists, Charlie Lieu and Callie Rennison, when in April 2018, they surveyed members about the prevalence of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the outdoor industry. SNEWS joined the movement a few months later to conduct our own survey of the entire outdoor industry.
