(Pine, Colo.) Woolrich, maker of fine outdoor apparel since 1830, donated fleece jackets to the Continental Divide Trail Alliance during its recent TrailFest event. A corporate sponsor of CDTA's efforts to complete and protect the Continental Divide Trail, Woolrich donated the jackets to help CDTA recognize and thank the volunteers who led trips during CDTA's annual celebration of the country's highest, longest, wildest trail that stretches 3,100 miles from Canada to Mexico.

“On behalf of everyone at Woolrich, we are proud and pleased to extend to the TrailFest trip leaders this token as a thank-you for their time and dedication to CDTA. CDTA is one of the cornerstones in the Woolrich conservation initiative,” said Tim Joseph, Woolrich, Director of Marketing and Media.

The 2006 edition of TrailFest was the largest celebration of the Trail ever and marked the largest number of hikers and mountain bikers to get out on the Trail in one day ever. From base camp in Buena Vista, Colo., near the rugged Collegiate Peaks and some of the Continental Divide Trail's most popular sections, trekkers could choose from more than a dozen different trips – hikes, mountain bike rides, a pontoon boat ride, even treks with llamas and goats packing lunch. Base camp also featured a pancake breakfast, “Taste of the Trail” dinner, booths showcasing a variety of outdoor gear and activities for children.

“Our volunteers greatly appreciated Woolrich's donation, not only are they great jackets, they help us get the word out about the work we are doing to complete this national treasure. We just simply could not get the job done without our volunteers and it's great to demonstrate our gratitude this way,” said Co-Executive Director Bruce Ward.

According to CDTA Co-Executive Director Paula Ward, “TrailFest truly represents our intention to connect people to the land and each other along the Continental Divide Trail. It's just going to get bigger and better.”

The Continental Divide Trail was established by Congress as a National Scenic Trail in 1978. When complete, the “King of Trails” will be the most significant trail system in the world. Stretching 3,100 miles along the backbone of America from Canada to Mexico, it accesses some of the most wild and scenic places left in the world while conserving the environment and promoting personal well being.

Since 1995, the Continental Divide Trail Alliance has played a central role toward the completion, management and protection of the Trail and it is the voice for unity in the diverse story of the Trail.
