Functional beer brand celebrates those who sweat for their beer and suffer well

San Francisco, Calif. (March 5, 2019) — Sufferfest, the functional beer brand brewed by athletes, for athletes, proudly adds record-breaking ultrarunner Courtney Dauwalter to its team of sufferers.

“Courtney Dauwalter is a force of nature,” said Sufferfest CEO and Founder Caitlin Landesberg. “We are so proud to have her join the team—bringing years of incredible athleticism, dedication and all around badassery to our stellar crew of athletes.”

Coined, “The Woman Who Outruns the Men” by The New York Times, Dauwalter has continued to shatter a number of ultrarunning records and has no end in sight. She recently won the Moab 240 Endurance Run, a 238-mile foot race through the desert, by an astonishing 10 hours to second place. Other notable accomplishments include winning 11 ultramarathons, such as the Run Rabbit Run 100-mile, Tahoe 200 and the record-setting Javelina Jundred 100K. Her most important performance is her position as a school teacher in Denver, Colorado.

“Super pumped to partner up with Sufferfest because of how passionate they are about supporting athletes and the ultra running community — not to mention, they make delicious, thirst-quenching beer,” said Dauwalter. “With Sufferfest waiting at the finish lines, the beer gravity will be pulling even stronger this year!”

Dauwalter joins fellow ultra, trail, and obstacle runners Amelia Boone, Morgan Sjogren, Paddy O’Leary, Rob Steger, Amy Leedham, as well as climber Lindsey Tjian, and newly joined pro skier Cody Townsend on the Sufferfest athlete team—each recognized for their grit and balance.

“Passion and integrity are important facets of the Sufferfest brand,” said Landesberg. “Our athletes share those values on and off the proverbial trail.”

The Sufferfest brand resonates with the athletic set due its origins within the endurance community. Sufferfest continues to disrupt the beer category by using ingredients not commonly found in beer, resulting in great tasting, innovative brews inspired by athletes and meant to be shared after any sweaty endeavor. FKT Pale Ale is brewed with black currant and salt while Repeat Kolsch weighs in at 95 calories, 5 grams of carbs and has added bee pollen. All of Sufferfest’s beers are also gluten-removed.
