Slumberjack Expands Partnership with Climashield

Publish date:

BOULDER, Colo. (August 9, 2007) – Last year, Slumberjack® was one of the first outdoor sleep system companies to incorporate Climashield™ insulation into a sleeping bag. The state-of-the-art insulation – which is commonly used in outerwear likes gloves, jackets and boots – is warmer, lighter, more compressible and resilient than other brands found on the market. Due to the successful launch of the Vertex sleeping bag featuring Climashield XP, the two companies are back again this year with the Gallatin, an all-new performance-based sleeping bag using
Climashield CL for even more warmth, loft and comfort.

Climashield's proprietary technology utilizes thousands of continuous strands of polyester and spreads them into a naturally interlocking insulation, which makes it extremely durable. The polyester filaments allow moisture to migrate through them, which helps to keep sleeping bags and other gear warm and dry in all weather conditions. Finally, Climashield does not clump, shift or move. This ensures an even distribution of insulation, eliminating cold spots in the bag.

“Our new Gallatin sleeping bag with Climashield CL is designed to maximize comfort without adding unwanted bulk and weight,” said Geoff O'Keeffe, president of Slumberjack. “This is a significant selling point for backpackers and trekkers who demand performance, but need lightweight, compact gear out in the field. The bag offers advanced loft, warmth and comfort, yet compresses down to a compact carry size.”

The Gallatin comes with either a 15-degree or 30-degree temperature rating. In addition to Climashield, the bag is loaded with performance features. To start, the Gallatin is constructed using double and triple offset stitching, which keeps insulation from clumping together, eliminating cold spots. The exterior of the bag is made from a polyester pongee, diamond-ripstop material, which offers enhanced durability and water resistance.

Looking inside, the bag is lined with a polyester-taffeta liner, which is silky-smooth to the touch. To further enhance warmth and comfort, the bag includes an insulated draft tube and adjustable storm collar to keep cold air out and warm air in.

The mummy-shaped sleeping bag features a fully-contoured hood to wrap snuggly around a user's head. The hood can also be flipped inside-out to act as a pillow. To make adjustments, the hood features easy-access drawcords.

Finally, the Gallatin features easy-to-grab, hook-and-loop zippers and an external utility pocket that is used to store small items like an MP3 player, keys or flashlight. It also comes with a compression stuff sack for fast, compact storage.

The Gallatin sleeping bag is available in two different sizes: Regular Right (32” x 82”) and Long Left (34” x 86”). The Gallatin retails between $99 and $109.99 depending upon size and temperature rating.
