REI Names Tom Vogl Vice President of Marketing

Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), a national retail cooperative providing quality outdoor gear and clothing, has named Tom Vogl as vice president of Marketing. Vogl will oversee all aspects of Marketing for REI including visual merchandising, direct mail and advertising.

Vogl comes to REI from Dell, Inc., where he has served in multiple positions over the past eight years. Most recently, Vogl was marketing director of Dell's Asia-Pacific/Japan region, working in Sydney, Australia. He has also served as the marketing director for the U.S. Consumer Group. Prior to Dell, Inc. Vogl held a number of retail, strategy and marketing roles at Conoco-Phillips. He earned a master's degree in business administration at Harvard University and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri.

As a long-term REI member, Vogl is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys cycling and telemark skiing. He is also active in his community and philanthropic causes. He will be relocating to Seattle with his wife and three boys, ages 9, 7 and 6.

REI is an outdoor retail cooperative dedicated to inspiring, educating and outfitting its 2.8 million active members and the community for a lifetime of outdoor adventure. Founded in 1938 by a group of Pacific Northwest mountaineers seeking quality equipment, REI operates 85 retail stores nationwide, two online stores – REI.com and REI-OUTLET.com – REI Outdoor School and an adventure travel company, REI Adventures.
