Petzl America Wins 2006 Utah Work/Life Award

Petzl America is proud to receive the 2006 Utah Work Life Award from the Utah Department of Workforce Services.

Petzl America is proud to receive the 2006 Utah Work Life Award from the Utah Department of Workforce Services. The award recognizes companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs. Petzl was one of three companies to receive the award in its category.

The Work/Life Awards honor employers that listen to employees and strive to create and maintain a culture of equity and opportunity in the workplace. The Award recognizes best practices and promotes their implementation in the business community.

“It's great to see that these businesses are benefiting from their work/life practices, in terms of improved productivity, commitment, retention, recruitment and morale; along with declines in absenteeism, turnover, health care and training costs,” said Lynette Rasmussen, director of the Office of Work & Family Life. “These companies are leaders in Utah — they set the example, and we're delighted to be honoring them at the Work/Life Awards celebration.”

Candidates for the award go through an extensive screening process. Employees are asked to fill out an in-depth questionnaire regarding their employer's workplace culture and other attributes that make working an enjoyable experience. Finalists for the award then are visited by the Department of Workforce Services for a final round of selection.

“We're honored to be a recipient of this year's Utah Work/Life Award. It's always been really important to me since moving to Utah seven years ago, to design a company that provides a supportive community,” said Roody Rasmussen, president of Petzl America. “Petzl has strived to create a fun work environment that balances a successful business while valuing the needs of individual employees. This has shaped our culture over the years and makes working here each day worthwhile and enjoyable.”
