BOULDER, Colo. (Jan. 28, 2015)-- Tim Johnson’s Ride on Chicago is preparing for the annual five-day bike tour benefiting PeopleForBikes. Pro cyclocross racer Tim Johnson and 25 other riders, including world-champion athletes, journalists and business executives, will pedal through the Midwest, from Minneapolis to Chicago, on June 2 to June 6.
Founded in 2011, the ride has raised more than $300,000 for the national bike nonprofit PeopleForBikes, helping to build more safe and appealing places for people to bike. The ride has also increased awareness for bike advocacy throughout the bike racing and enthusiast communities.
In previous years, Johnson and others rode from Boston to Washington D.C. in the “Ride on Washington”. In 2014 the ride moved to the Midwest and became the “Ride on Chicago”. The ride will take place in the Midwest again this year, this time starting in Minneapolis, traveling through Madison and Milwaukee and ending in Chicago. The nearly 500-mile route consists of riders pedaling an impressive 85-120 miles per day.
RIDE ON CHICAGO 2015 ITINERARY
June 2: Minneapolis, MN to Winona, MN (120 miles)
June 3: Winona, MN to Reedsburg, WI (110 miles)
June 4: Reedsburg, WI to Madison, WI (80 miles)
June 5: Madison, WI to Milwaukee (85 miles)
June 6: Milwaukee, WI to Chicago, IL (95 miles)

While the full ride is invite-only, limited one-day rider spots are available with a donation to PeopleForBikes. Anyone is welcome to join the ride for its departure each morning, with exact locations and times to be announced shortly. The ride will finish in Chicago on Saturday, June 6. The public is invited to pedal the final miles into the city with the group. A reception on the evening of the 6th will celebrate the ride’s conclusion.
