RICHMOND, Calif. (April 26, 2007) – Mountain Hardwear Inc., a leading mountaineering and outdoor equipment and clothing company, has been honored as the recipient of Outside Magazine's Gear of the Year Award for the company's new Ultra Lamina 32 sleeping bag. This is the second year in a row Mountain Hardwear has been awarded the prestigious Gear of the Year award. The award is given to products that exemplify (performance, ingenuity and innovation.

“The combination of a new synthetic insulation and dual-entry zips makes the UltraLamina 32 both compressible and versatile," says Outside senior editor Dennis Lewon.

Ultra Lamina sleeping bags are insulated with a proprietary microfiber short-staple insulation called Thermic Microâ„¢ which is welded to the shell and lining. This process creates more consistently dense sheets of fill and eliminates stitching to stabilize the insulation - which means fewer cold spots - and outstanding compressibility. The bags are also unique because of a dual-zip entry. The soft hand, light weight shell fabric and unique insulation combine to create one of the most compressible synthetic sleeping bags ever made. Half-zips extending from the neck on either side of the bag allow the user to sit up and use his arms to cook or read while staying warm.
