HESTRA CELEBRATES 75 YEARS OF KEEPING HANDS WARM
Leader In Winter Sports And Outdoor Recreation Gloves Also Celebrates Snowfalls Across the Country By Announcing Partnership with Opensnow.com
(Golden, Colo.)—November 1, 2011—Recent snowfalls throughout the country are a cause for celebration for winter recreation enthusiasts. As resorts are either preparing or opening for the season, HESTRA, the leading international glove brand in skiing, outdoor recreation and leisure, is also preparing for a celebration of its own, 75 years of keeping hands and fingers warm across the world.
According to HESTRA USA President Dino Dardano, whose U.S. headquarters are based in Golden, Colo., HESTRA began making gloves out of wool and leather for lumberjacks in 1936. The gloves were made to last, a tradition that Dardano says is followed to this day. “We're one of the longest-operating glove manufacturers in the world and are proud we have maintained a level of quality and performance for 75 years,†said Dardano. “This month we've watched resorts across the country ramp up for the upcoming winter season. As skiers and snowboarders begin to gear up, we encourage them to look to HESTRA as the perfect choice for a glove that will last not only this season, but seasons to come.â€
According to Meteorologist and founder of Opensnow.com (formerly Colorado Powder Forecast) Joel Gratz, the 2011-12 winter season is predicted to be a La Nina year, meaning locations such as Colorado, Utah, Idaho, the Northwest and many other resorts across the country could see large amounts of snowfall throughout the winter. “Get your gear ready, it should be another great season for powder," said Gratz.
With the launch of Opensnow.com today (11-1-11), HESTRA announces their partnership with the website which has become a staple for skiers and snowboarders in Colorado in its former incarnation as Colorado Powder Forecast. Moving forward, Opensnow.com will deliver snow enthusiast-specific weather information to an expanded geographic range outside of Colorado, something Dardano says is important to HESTRA.
“We design and build our gloves to perform in many different elements so its important that skiers and riders have accurate information when choosing the appropriate gear and gloves for the conditions,†says Dardano. “Colorado Powder Forecast and now Opensnow.com does just that.â€
To keep hands and fingers warm during the coldest and snowiest days of this La Nina year, HESTRA offers a glove perfect for every element. In months such as November and December, skiers and snowboarders can look to the Seth Morrison 3-Finger Pro, the perfect freeride glove that is water and windproof, breathable and made with durable leathers, a tight fitting cuff, knuckle protection and Thermolite insulation. For the cooler months of January and February, hands and fingers will appreciate the Army Leather Heli Ski Mitt, featuring a longer cuff for powder days, extra durability and warmth and is made of wind and waterproof, breathable HESTRA Triton/Polyamide fabric. Rounding out the ski and ride season in March and April, which is typically warmer but also the snowiest months in states such as Colorado and Utah, the Army Leather Spring will keep hands warm and dry and is waterproof and breathable. Additionally, as part of its celebration, HESTRA will offer a throwback glove to its original 1936 mitt, the Heli Ski De Cuir, which incorporates all the new technology out there to fight the elements, but embodies the traditional 1936 mitt.
HESTRA produces over 200 styles of gloves for alpine skiing and snowboarding, ski racing, cross country sports, liners, leisure, outdoor recreation, cycling, mountaineering and gloves for the workforce. For 75 years, the company has been committed to developing quality, long lasting gloves for variety of users.
