RICHMOND, VA – Dominion Riverrock is excited to partner with GIBBON Slacklines USA to introduce the sport of slacklining to the three-day river fest. Slacklining is the act of balancing along a narrow, flexible piece of webbing usually low to the ground. Originating in the climbing world, it has become popular for balance training and now, thanks to GIBBON, is available to everyone.

Professional slackliners from all over the world will use their balance, control, and acrobatics skills to compete head to head in this extreme trickline competition. The competition will consist of three rounds of single elimination format and each competitor has two minutes per match. All competitors will be judged on Difficulty, Creativity and Performance in order to determine the top four slackliners. Competition will be restricted to pro level, and prize money will be awarded to 1st through 4th place slackliners.

“Gibbon Slacklines is excited to be working with Dominion Riverrock to hold the first International Slackline competition of the 2012 Slacker Season. We feel that this is the East Coast's premier outdoor festival, with an incredible setting on Richmond's urban riverfront and a great opportunity to expose Virginians to the thrilling new sport of slacklining.” -Emilio Torres, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Gibbon USA

In addition, throughout the weekend these same pro-level athletes will ascend a highline that extends across the Haxall Canal. The athletes will be hooked into a six-foot bungee-like cord as a precaution in case they fall.

And, for those festival-goers that would like to learn to slackline, GIBBON will have an interactive slackline area set up onsite.
