With the help of artists from Salt Lake City's Unknown Gallery at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2006, Clive, maker of stylized and innovative everyday bags, backpacks and accessories, raised $1,600 during its inaugural 2006 Clive Art Reality Project (CARP), a live art and gallery presentation benefiting California's Outdoor Outreach program.

Based on the creative initiative's success in raising funds while effectively connecting urban culture with outdoor consumers and industry influencers, Clive announced it will continue CARP activities through art projects, consumer and trade events. Clive will extend its commitment to the arts/outdoors program starting with The Travel Goods Show, March 7-9, 2006, in Las Vegas. For the trade show, artists' custom-painted Clive bags will be featured on a wall-gallery display adjacent to and inside the Clive booth (#517).

Urban freestyle artists will create the centerpiece attractions for the gallery which is designed to offer show-goers an atypical creative display execution that conveys the Clive brand “vibe,” which connects its urban-transit bags and packs with an important cause, and offers art enthusiasts a one-of-a-kind showing of original, contemporary urban art. Artists' hand-painted bags will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the Outdoor Outreach program.

Contributing artists to The Travel Goods Show exhibit event include: Trent Call (http://www.swinj.com), Jeremy Herridge, Gina Herridge and Sri Whipple of Unknown Gallery Salt Lake City (http://www.unkgallery.com), Mike Maxwell and Chandu Reading of Voice Gallery 1156 of San Diego http://www.voice1156.com, and Lisa Romero of Los Angeles http://www.paperbullet.com.

During the inaugural fundraising event, Clive matched $800.00 in raffle sales with an $800.00 donation. Clive art partners were Salt Lake City artists Trent Call and Sri Whipple, who created works of art on the trade show floor. Additionally, Clive, in collaboration with Salt Lake City's UNKNOWN Gallery, featured an international and local artist gallery display along the Clive booth wall during Outdoor Retailer. On-site and gallery art creations were raffled, raising the funds for the outdoor youth program.

Clive's CARP project benefited local Salt Lake City artists by providing them with a venue that allowed them to expose thousands to their artistic creations. The event also provided direct funding to Outdoor Outreach (www.outdooroutreach.org.), a non-profit organization based in San Diego, Calif., committed to providing opportunities for all children to gain confidence and self-esteem through participation in outdoor activities.
Clive introduced CARP to benefit youth outdoor programs (starting with Outdoor Outreach), while helping people to better understand the bag maker's brand positioning, which joins the outdoor and urban lifestyle genres.

According to Jennifer Barker, Clive's CARP Project Manager, “Our focus with these projects is to convey the ‘Clive Vibe' by connecting urban culture and styling to our customers and industries through art in a way that directly benefits youth outdoor programs, all while tapping into the multifaceted lives and passions we share.”

Founded in 1999, Clive is an active lifestyle, urban transit brand that integrates function, comfort, and adjustability solutions to provide effective methods for movement. Based Vista, Calif., Clive is available at www.clivebags.com and through specialty outdoor, urban, and action sports retailers nationwide.
