SNEWS Reader Poll: Scouting indicates it’s mostly fun

The Boy Scouts of America marks its 100th anniversary this year (Girl Scouts turn 100 in 2012), so SNEWS® wondered just how much of an influence Scouting had on the lives of our outdoor and fitness industry readers.

Just under 84 percent of our readers who responded to the survey have been involved in Scouting…about what we expected to hear.

However, we had no idea what to expect when it came to how much the Scouting experience influenced our readers. Only 20 percent found the experience life-changing, which did surprise us a bit. An equal number felt the experience in Scouts had absolutely no influence on them at all.

The most vital question in our mini survey, though, revolved around cookies -- Girl Scout Cookies to be exact. Can it be that 8 percent of our readers really do not eat cookies at all? Stunning. No surprise that Thin Mints remain the overwhelming choice as favorite cookie…we can eat them by the box full, which is why some members of our team are no longer allowed to buy Girl Scout Cookies...but that’s another survey question for later.

Don’t miss our new survey question below.
