This is good news to stressed travelers, and as the fifth busiest airport in the world, millions of fliers will be able to stretch out, meditate and breathe in a quiet space.

The free yoga room offers mats and disinfectant wipes, bamboo flooring and floor-to-ceiling mirrors on one wall. There are no instructors, but users can take advantage of the mounted television playing different yoga videos.

“The Yoga Room provides a space for yoga practice as well as a place to relax or meditate,” said Rosemarie S. Andolino, commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation. “This is yet another amenity to help make the travel experience at O'Hare ‘best-in-class.’”

Terminal 3 also includes two spas, with offerings like manicures and pedicures, facials, and massages. Outside the yoga room, an urban garden growing vegetables serves many of the restaurants inside the airport.

San Francisco International Airport kicked off the trend in January 2012 when it opened a yoga room in the newly remodeled Terminal 2. Then in the spring, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport visitors doffed their 10-gallon hats to step into Terminal D’s yoga studio. And with help from local studio Evolution Yoga, Burlington International Airport in Vermont followed suit in early 2013.
