Brian Davidson, 25-year fitness industry veteran with experience at SportsArt Fitness, Life Fitness, BH Fitness and the former Exercise Equipment Centers, has joined Diamondback Fitness as the company’s new director of global sales. He will focus on independent fitness dealers and will base out of the new offices in Kent, Wash., where the fitness division relocated to in March. He began with the company July 14…. Also, Jean Ausin, long-time marketing guru of The Austin Group for Diamondback, will retire the end of July. Or so she says. Are taking bets on how long she can stay away?...

Bodyguard’s new director of marketing is Christian Dutil, replacing Yvan Marcoux, who moved to a different division of the company…. Kettlebells continue to get good consumer promotion. A four-page “get fit” workout feature in the June issue of Oxygen showed a really buff woman doing a series of exercises, all using GoFit kettlebells….

Dosho Shifferaw, the patent-holder of the original Bowflex, has just announced he has a new home gym that incorporates adjustable weight dumbbells. The Dosho Gym (www.dosho.com) will retail for just under $500 and was launched in late spring…. Michael Grant, former marketing director for G&G Fitness who left to start his own retail marketing agency called Commotion, has a new partner: Dan Foust, formerly of True Fitness, has joined Grant so the two can offer a “total package” of marketing, merchandising, web development, training and other services. Joe Gulino, formerly of Omni Fitness and Total Fitness Equipment, is now overseeing business, strategy and other changes at HEST Fitness. He started July 15…. AtHome Fitness owner Greg Feeder and Bryan Dorksen have started a medical supply firm called, simply “1 Medical Supply” as a way to better serve their vertical market customers but also to expand their business into related areas. The website, www.1medicalsupply.com, will be launched soon.
