Eddie Bauer’s new leadership strategy seems intent on poaching some outdoor talent from The North Face.

Three months after naming former The North Face President Michael Egeck its new CEO, Eddie Bauer announced Monday that it had snagged TNF parent VF Outdoor Chief Financial Officer Daniel Templin as its new chief financial and operating officer.

Templin’s industry roots run deep, including 12 years as CFO of The North Face, and then VF Outdoor. He also served as chairman of the Outdoor Industry Association from 2009 to 2011. That type of resume would indicate that Eddie Bauer continues to focus its turnaround with a strong focus on the outdoors.

Egeck and Templin worked together for six years at The North Face, also likely playing a role in the hire.

"Dan is a very accomplished executive with a consistent track record of success," Egeck said in a press release. "He brings depth and breadth of expertise in process, finance, operations and retail. Dan's particular work in the outerwear industry aligns perfectly with our vision for Eddie Bauer.”

Templin will replace Marv Toland as CFO at Eddie Bauer. Toland will transition to the newly created role of senior vice president direct “with with responsibility for the brand's e-commerce and catalog businesses,” Eddie Bauer officials said.

As for gap left at CFO for VF Outdoor, company officials said they would announce a replacement for Templin “in the very near future.”
