On Oct. 18 Austrian sports discounter Sports Experts opens its second German outlet, adding the Bavarian capital city to its Regensburg branch. SNEWS® hears that German retailers, especially Interport members, aren't smiling at the discount centers from Intersport Austria's Sport Eybl spreading into their country. There are already about 30 Sports Experts centers in Austria, and more expansion is on tap -- likely in Germany. Rainer Angstl of Munich's premier specialty retailer Sport-Scheck told SNEWS® he will be watching the "big-box" retailer closely, keeping tabs on its prices and offerings since it is known for deep discounts.
