Ortlieb is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In the beginning of the '80s proprietor Hartmut Ortlieb started in his garage sewing panniers out of truck tarps. Hartmut himself developed the 3D high frequency welding process that is used today. No longer just a garage-operation, Ortlieb is a soup-to-nuts enterprise with an individual construction division, tool and machine manufacturing, production, marketing and sales, and worldwide distribution.
