Ana Trujillo joins the expanding SNEWS team in Boulder
SNEWS® continues to expand its Boulder, Colo.-based office with the addition of Ana Trujillo, who joined the editorial staff June 1 as an assistant editor. Trujillo becomes the fourth member of the SNEWS team in that office, including senior writer David Clucas, sales manager Elizabeth Averbeck, and associate marketing manager Andrea Neukom.
“Ana brings strong daily newspaper reporting talent, youthful vision, and a level of energy that will be hard to keep up with,” said Michael Hodgson, president of SNEWS. “Working side-by-side with David and closely with Elizabeth and Andrea, Ana’s presence coupled with her passion for news and community reporting further solidifies the transition of SNEWS headquarter status from Grass Valley, Calif., to the AIM Outdoor Group’s Boulder offices.”
Trujillo, who was born and raised in the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado, comes to SNEWS from the Santa Fe New Mexican daily newspaper in New Mexico’s capital of Santa Fe. There, she has worn many hats since beginning at the paper in 2006 as an editorial intern. From compiling the newspaper’s wedding, birth and anniversary announcements to writing features, health stories and local news briefs, Trujillo has covered it all. More recently, she served as the teen page (GenerationNext) editor, mentoring future youth reporters.
“Ana’s enthusiasm about all things news, as well as all things outdoors and fitness, grabbed us from the start,” said SNEWS editor in chief Therese Iknoian. “Everybody we work with in the industry will love her style and news sense.”
Trujillo holds a degree in journalism and political science from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., and has been working in New Mexico since graduating in 2006.
