| Mystery Shopper: High Country stumbles a bit in our GPS shopping test
Oct 23, 2006 Located in Atlanta's upscale Buckhead area, High Country Outfitters is one of the city's last independent outdoor specialty dealers. Having shopped for a GPS unit at a large sporting goods store near Atlanta, we were curious to see how a specialty outdoor retail store such as High Country would fare in comparison. | Mystery Shopper: Bass Pro shatters the no-service stereotype of big-box stores
Oct 2, 2006 SNEWS® set out to gauge how effectively outdoor retailers are selling GPS, and to make it even more interesting, we sent one of our top Mystery Shopper operatives to a large Bass Pro Shops store just north of Atlanta. Could a massive sporting goods store filled with everything from boat motors to tents effectively sell GPS? Our Mystery Shopper was surprised at what he found. | Mystery Shopper: Close, but listening skills missed the mark
Aug 21, 2006 Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. That’s what we drill into our shopping agents during Mystery Shopper boot camp. A retailer who only comes close to providing good service, but falls short in the end, will just be another casualty in the struggle to win at retail. One of our Mystery Shopping agents had a close call while visiting a specialty fitness retailer in Tacoma, Wash. Read Story | Comment on this story | Go to all Mystery Shopper Lab |

| Mystery Shopper: Salespeople will sell what they know, avoid what they don't
Jul 31, 2006 Several companies introduced lines of larger backpacks that featured new technologies, giving this product category some long-overdue attention. After giving retailers a spring season to get a feel for these load haulers, we dispatched a sly Mystery Shopper to gauge retailers' sales savvy. | Mystery Shopper: Keeping it cool with a store full of customers
Jul 24, 2006 The sun was beaming over Seattle and the Starbucks staff was asking, "Would you like your coffee iced today?" So, after a jolt of caffeine, our SNEWS® shopper crossed a busy street and walked into the Busy Body Home Fitness showroom in Tacoma where everything was metallic and cool. | Mystery Shopper: You want me to go someplace else to buy shoes?
Jul 17, 2006 It was a beautiful Friday afternoon with perfect late spring temperatures and low humidity, just the time for most folks in the region to be thinking about getting outside and reassessing their shoe needs. We ambled into Great Outdoor Provision on Park Road about 6:30 p.m. The center where it sits is rather non-descript and sprawling with parking areas surrounded by movie theaters and other could-be-anywhere urban mall stores. The Great Outdoor Provision building stood out with its charming old west façade and drew us in like bees to honey. Read Story | Comment on this story | Go to all Mystery Shopper Lab |

| Mystery Shopper: Should customers have to work this hard?
Jun 26, 2006 Our team had driven by the huge sign and large glass windows facing Interstate 80 in Sacramento hundreds of times -- since the Fitness Outlet Exercise Equipment has a superior location on the main highway between San Francisco or Sacramento and Lake Tahoe and all points east -- but we'd never stepped inside. We'd heard good things, and know the store owners' reputations as solid. The destination was ripe for a mystery shopping experience. | Mystery Shopper: A home run with easy banter, solid techniques at Lifestyle
May 22, 2006 As one of the new kids in the fitness specialty arena in the Charlotte, N.C., area, we were curious to see how Lifestyle Fitness had settled in. We chose the main Lifestyle Fitness Equipment store facing southbound Interstate 77 near Interstate 485 in South Charlotte -- what seemed like a prime spot since rush-hour backups have bored folks looking up and reading store signs. | Mystery shopper: Listening, empathizing show professional salesmanship
Mar 3, 2006 Winter was going to be winding down soon in Madison, Wis., and Teddy knew if he was going to continue doing the outdoorsy activities he liked so much, working on leg and hip strength was going to be vital since he had just been diagnosed with osteo-arthritis in both hips. Knowing that he had to take action, he wasted no time heading to the nearest specialty fitness equipment store, 2nd Wind Exercise. Read Story | Comment on this story | Go to all Mystery Shopper Lab |

Fitnex E55SG Elliptical Sep 14, 2011 So many ellipticals can be large and pricy, and the though the smaller ones may have a lower price tag, what they give up to get there makes for a more wobbly ride that’s not as much fun. The Fitnex E55SG elliptical manages to be rather petite but still can hold its own when a user pushes it hard. Read Review | Comment on this review | Go to all Product Reviews |
