SNEWS® 2006 Survivor, Outdoor Retail writing contest winners announced

Through July 1, retail sales staff answered the contest call to submit a story of survival and perseverance in the face of challenging customers. Twenty-nine finalists had their stories submitted to the contest judges, whose votes determined the top ten.

Clashing Cultures

I've been working in the outdoor retail industry for years, but this was my first year working in the states. I had never come across such an amusing day like this before. To start with my accent (I'm from New Zealand) doesn't help the situation when talking to customers who don't understand you that well.

It had been a quiet week up here in Lake Wobegon country when He walked in. He began asking questions about tents that came in black. Well, there aren’t any. But, we asked, wouldn’t a black tent be depressing?

Fitnex E55SG Elliptical

So many ellipticals can be large and pricy, and the though the smaller ones may have a lower price tag, what they give up to get there makes for a more wobbly ride that’s not as much fun. The Fitnex E55SG elliptical manages to be rather petite but still can hold its own when a user pushes it hard.
