The Ski Corner Joins SMC
The Ski Corner, located in Scranton, PA, has made a name for itself as one of northeast Pennsylvania's premier snowboard and freestyle ski shops. Starting out as a used equipment shop called The Ski Place in 1979 when owner Rob Bohr was 16, it wasn't until years later, in 2003, that Rob and his wife Lori opened The Ski Corner.
The Ski Corner is known for its outstanding selection of ski equipment, snowboard equipment and clothing. The Ski corner carries new and used equipment and is known as the area's “Family Friendly†ski shop.
SMC is a buying group of 63 stockholder member businesses representing 141 storefronts nationwide. The member businesses primarily sell ski, snowboard and other snowsports-related equipment, apparel and accessories in specialty stores located throughout the United States.
That brings to 5 the total number of shops that have joined SMC this year. “We're excited that we've been able to demonstrate that we can improve shops' margins through innovative buying and selling programs,†stated company president, Tom Gately. “Membership also provides powerful industry insight through our network of America's Finest Ski & Snowboard Shops.â€
