Two-pound Climbing Kit Offers Lightweight, Durable Apparel for the Ultimate Big-Wall Climb

ALAMEDA, California — Aug. 2, 2012 — The North Face, the world's premier supplier of authentic, innovative and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear, today unveiled what it considers to be the ultimate kit of lightweight, packable and durable apparel purpose-built to meet the demands of multi-pitch, big-wall climbing. - The Verto Climb Collection.

"In this case we took in our athlete feedback to create a big-wall climbing kit that would, weighing in at 2 pounds, mean less weight and more climbing time for them."

Developed with The North Face athlete team, the Verto Climb Collection is a four-piece kit, including Verto Pro Jacket, the Litho Tee, the Satellite Pant and the Verto Micro Hoodie, which in total weighs 2 pounds.

Every component of the Verto Climb Collection is specifically designed to cut weight and bulk yet still provide durable, abrasion-resistant protection and maximum freedom of movement, which enables people to carry less and climb more.

Weighing in at 5.6 ounces, the Verto Pro Jacket is made with Pertex Quantum GL and Gore Windstopper to provide windproofness, water protection and durability. The Verto Micro Hoodie is a featherweight, 800-fill down jacket featuring FlashDry and Pertex Quantum GL.

Both jackets feature a pocket that double as a compressible stow pouch, which allows climbers to layer up or down, and stow unused layers by clipping them to the climbing harness.

The Litho Tee is a 100 percent merino wool jersey, making for an ideal, lightweight, next-to-skin layer. And the Satellite Pant is constructed with The North Face Apex material, a breathable, stretch-woven fabric, and features an anatomical lumbar fit that is harness and pack-belt friendly.
