SALT LAKE CITY, UT– (Feb. 9, 2008) – Thousands of 3point5.com retail users have come to rely on the online training leader for valuable information and deep discounts on everything from whitewater kayaks to biking gear to snowboards to warm, waterproof hunting gear.

Now, with the recent launch of a 3point5.com training site for the RECCO® advanced rescue system, users can take in information that could one day help save their lives.

Plus, retail users can win a free day of heli skiing in British Columbia – the top 3point5.com performer at the end of April 2009 will win the trip! This is one of the biggest, most valuable contests ever run on 3point5.com, and it's open to the entire 3point5.com retail audience!

The innovative safety concept was born when RECCO founder Magnus Granhed developed an electronic reflector that could be used to locate people buried under snow. This rugged, lightweight, wearable technology has been integrated into apparel, helmets, protection gear and boots made by more than 200 leading outerwear manufacturers.

Small, lightweight RECCO detectors used by ski patrollers, helicopters and other search and rescue personnel can quickly locate buried reflectors, making avalanche search-and-rescue easier, faster and safer. The detectors also locate avalanche beacon signals simultaneously. The RECCO system is not a replacement for other avalanche safety measures – all backcountry travelers should use RECCO in concert with a beacon, probe, shovel and overall avalanche awareness skills.

3point5.com, which currently hosts several training sites for several manufacturers that integrate RECCO reflectors into their garments and gear, was a good match for RECCO, said Jane Mauser, Sales and Marketing Manager at RECCO.

“We're a technology company focused on awareness and education, so we want to provide accessible retail training online,” Mauser said. “3point5.com and RECCO have several partners in common, so the relationship made perfect sense. We're confident this training will efficiently, effectively spread the word about our life-saving product.”
