LAVAL, QUEBEC - This year, Pelican International, world-class manufacturer of boats, boating accessories, sleds and outdoor toys, is celebrating the 100th year of International Women’s Day by joining forces with the Women's Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF).
Beginning on March 8, the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, and continuing throughout 2011, Pelican International will host a series of fundraisers benefiting the Foundation. Planned events include employee activities, such as special lunches and an on-site spa day with chair massages, and various raffles. Other events will be organized as well, with all proceeds going directly to the WCRF. In addition, Pelican has donated a brand new Flow 106 stand up paddleboard to the Foundation for its silent auction.
As a proponent of healthy lifestyles, Pelican is proud to be associated with this non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the cure rates of women with gynaecologic cancers. The WCRF coordinates the activities of numerous research physicians and frequently publishes peer reviewed journal articles, many of which lead to critical physician education and an increased quality of life for patients. Founded in 1999, the WCRF has been heralded in the Hoag Cancer Center Reports for achieving cure rates higher than the national average.
