OR Hosts Industry Party Alongside Bouldering Championships

The industry gathers after hours to enjoy refreshments, beach volleyball and other games before joining the local public for a professional climbing competition

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. - July 19, 2010 - Outdoor Retailer (OR) will host its Summer Market Industry Party on Pierpont Avenue adjacent to the Unified Bouldering Championships (UBC) August 3, 2010, the first day of Summer Market 2010 held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah August 3 - 6. Open Air Demo, held at Jordanelle State Park on August 2, precedes Summer Market.

"The Bouldering Championships is arguably the biggest event in American climbing, and it happens in concert with Outdoor Retailer," said Kenji Haroutunian, Outdoor Retailer show director. "It will inspire thousands in the industry and general public, reaching beyond the live experience on-site and broadcasting live in HD to people around the world."

OR invites Summer Market attendees to mingle and network at the Industry Block Party presented by Merrell and Stanley. Join OR on Pierpont Avenue for appetizers, beer, games of Cornhole, Merrell's beach volleyball tournament and Stanley's VIP treatment from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Stop by the Stanley booth (# 21013) during show hours on August 3 for passes to Stanley's "Built for Life" Industry Party VIP area. The first 100 VIPs get Stanley's new reusable Carbonated Drink Bottle.
Directly after the Industry Party, attendees can climb the stairs to the UBC Pro Tour Finals at the Shilo Inn parking structure also on Pierpont Avenue. Starting at 7 p.m., the industry and the local public are invited to watch the world's six best male and female climbers compete for a $10,000 purse. Past winners include Chris Sharma, Alex Johnson, Alex Puccio and Daniel Woods.

"There is no place that captures the energy of climbers and the climbing industry better than Outdoor Retailer," said Pete Ward, managing partner of NE2C Productions, the company operating the UBC Pro Tour. "We've been fortunate to work closely with OR as it has continued to elevate the profile of climbing at the show."

Admission to the UBC Pro Finals is free with an OR badge and $15 for the general public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site. The Pro Tour After Party, presented by Sanuk, with music from Donovan Frankenreiter will begin at the Shilo Inn at 9:30 p.m.
