ispo SPORT & STYLE is presenting a product contest for overlapping areas of the sports industry for the first time with the ispo performance Award. The ispo performance Award is divided into four areas: Footwear, Clothing, Hardware and Others. In addition, products consciously designed to be environmentally compatible will be honored by an international jury composed of industry experts, trade journalists and scholars/scientists in the special category Eco Responsibility.

The segment-independent division into the four main categories will make it possible to compare products from the running segment with those from the streetwear, outdoor or swimming segments, for example. At the same time, this creates an exciting challenge for companies to win out against not just the competition in their own segment, but also against all category participants. As a result, an innovative hiking boot can leave a shoe for sprinting behind on the home stretch. Innovation and design will play the major role in the assessments. But the products will also be assessed with respect to their functional and technical solutions as well as their ease of use.

Products will be assessed with new criteria and a different jury in the category Eco Responsibility. In addition to especially eco-friendly products, companies will also be distinguished there that contribute something important to protecting the environment with non-polluting manufacturing processes and active information policies. Christoph Ebert, Jury Chairperson and head of the competence center Sport, Health and Technology, knows that sport and ecology can no longer be considered separately. “The current discussions in society about reducing CO² emissions is only one example of many, which demonstrate the special relevance of environmental protection. Especially the sports industry will have to take the offensive with this topic in the future. With the ispo performance Award, companies are being honored in the sports industry for the first time, whose commitment and products for protecting the environmental are models. In addition, the award is putting new sales arguments in focus, which will be very significant for retail sales in the future.”

All sporting goods and sports fashion manufacturers may participate, who launch a completely new, innovative and/or eco-friendly product on the market for the spring/summer 2008. Submission deadline is June 14, 2007.

In addition, the winners of the new ispo performance Awards will exhibit their products during the complete trade fair form July 8 to 10, 2007 Hall B2 - trends & innovations - of ispo SPORT & STYLE.
