A fundraiser for Jeff Lowe’s Metanoia will be held on Tuesday February 22 from 6:00-9:30pm at the Utah Valley University.

There will be a reception with Jeff Lowe and a silent auction of $1000 worth of brand new outdoor equipment courtesy of Liberty Mountian and Petzl and DVD’s produced by Jeff Lowe. See the Metanoia Trailer and two great films (Free Climbing the Nameless Tower of Trango and Cloudwalker) featuring Jeff Lowe, Catherine Destivelle and Mark Wilford. Details can be found at the Jeff Lowe Metanoia Events Page. The money raised will be put onto kickstarter to help us reach our goal of $125,000 by 2pm March 3, 2011.

Your support on Kickstarter.com is a unique source of funding that will be used to re-create scenes from Jeff’s solo first ascent of Metanoia in the exact locations where they occurred on the North Face of the Eiger. Celebrated American climber, Josh Wharton will be the “climb in” for these re-creations. An attempt of a second ascent will also be filmed later this winter if conditions come in for Swiss climbing superstar, Ueli Steck. (photo by Jon Krakauer, 1991, Eiger North Face, Metanoia Route)

This film explores the incredible life and climbs of this visionary alpinist who continues to be the adaptable man he set out to be in his youth. Jeff’s indomitable spirit and incredible optimism both on and off the mountains epitomize a philosophy that celebrates life and the outdoors. Metanoia explores these themes in the iconic setting of the Swiss Alps.
