Big Agnes Lights Up Tent Market with mtnGLO™ Collection Launch

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (July 8, 2014) — Big Agnes announces a new collection of tents and camping accessories featuring mtnGLO™ Tent Lighting Technology, a proprietary, integrated illumination system. The patent pending mtnGLO™ Collection features multiple tents across a variety of categories, ranging from ultralight backpacking tents to car and base camping models. The company will introduce mtnGLO™ along with other new camping equipment to retailers at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market tradeshow and at OutDoor Friedrichshafen this July and August and then to consumers in early 2015.

“We’ve wanted to integrate tents and lighting for a long time, but it wasn’t until now that the technology had progressed enough for us to provide an effective, lightweight solution with minimal cost increases,” says Bill Gamber, Big Agnes co-founder and president. “By adding lighting and power to our products, we’re bringing technology into the outdoors to deliver a whole new level of functionality, convenience and comfort.”

The patent pending technology in the mtnGLO™ Collection features light emitting diodes (LEDs) integrated into the construction of a tent. The collection includes tents, an accessory tent lighting kit, and a durable case designed for tablets and other electronic devices featuring the Joey T55 computerized power supply. The LED lighting technology easily turns on and off with the flick of a switch so backpackers and campers no longer have to fumble for headlamps or flashlights in the dark.

Big Agnes brings power to the backcountry through a partnership with Joey Energy, an American brand that invented an integrated power supply that is currently found in backpacks and courier bags. The Joey T55, available in select mtnGLO™ Collection products, is designed with rugged electronics and a tough, water-resistant case. It can be charged via wall outlets or USB ports and provides high-speed charging for most devices.

See the entire mntGLO™ Collection at the Big Agnes booth (#10041) during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 6-9 in Salt Lake City and at OutDoor (stand 310, Hall A3) July 10-13 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
