Burlington, VT.-November 20, 2017
Skida, a Burlington, Vermont-based and ski-inspired headwear and accessories brand specializing in locally-made, colorful, limited edition prints for men, women and kids announced company founder, Corinne Prevot, made Forbes’ 2018 30 Under 30 list in the Manufacturing & Industry Category.
The prestigious list recognizes the “best young makers and industrial innovators” under the age of 30 who are “creating the products, methods and materials of tomorrow,” according to Forbes.
At age 16, Prevot started the brand in 2008 as a high school Nordic ski racer at Burke Mountain Academy. She maintained and grew the business through her four years at Middlebury College before establishing its headquarters in Burlington, VT. Skida’s roots in the ski community inspired the brand’s leading category, the Vermont Collection, which is defined by colorful, limited edition prints for women, men and kids and is 100% produced by local seamstresses.
As Skida heads into winter, their busiest season of the year, they prepare to celebrate the brand’s 10th Anniversary. Stay tuned for a curated collection of energetic patterns that celebrate the company’s youthful, adventurous, and colorful spirit. It’s been nearly a decade since Corinne made the first Skida hats for her high school Nordic ski team in northern Vermont. The brand continues to grow year after year, having sold over 78,000 Vermont-made units last season.
“It’s an honor to not only be recognized by Forbes but also to celebrate a huge milestone for us,” says Prevot. “We could not have done it without the support of our local community and all of the outdoor enthusiasts who have shared the Skida love over the years! I still get butterflies seeing Skida hats out there in the wild.”
