CHEYENNE, WY – OutdoorGearLab.com announced today the results of its 2012 Editors' Choice awards for camping stoves. Nine of the best stoves were compared in a rigorous testing regime that evaluated the following categories: Group Cooking, Time to Boil, Simmering, Ease of Setup, Ease of Care, Wind Resistance, and Packed Size. The testing, which involved one year of lounging in campgrounds, picnic areas and BBQ's across North America, identified the best camping stove for 1-4 people, the best stove for big groups and the best value in a camp stove. Each one underwent extensive side-by-side comparisons. View the complete Camping Stove Review

The winners:

Camp Chef Everest – winner of the Editors' Choice award for 2012. According to Gear Editor Chris McNamara, "The Camp Chef Everest costs more than a typical two-burner stove but it's worth it. It has two super-powerful burners that put out high BTUs and boil water as fast as any stove we tested. It is the stove we take for a 2-6 people on a 2-6 day trip."

Stansport Outfitters Series – winner of the Editors' Choice award for 2012. According to Gear Editor McNamara, "The Stansport Outfitters stove is all about power. Burner power that is. It boiled water as fast any compact stove we tested, even the big Wolf Range style burners on the Camp Chef Pro 60. It is tied for Editors' Choice winner with the Camp Chef Everest because the two stoves are nearly identical other than color and minor cosmetic details. This is the perfect stove for most camping situations."

Coleman PerfectFlow 2-Burner - winner of the Best Buy award for 2012. This award is given to a product that balances a high score in our tests and a reasonable price. According to McNamara, "The Coleman PerfectFlow is one of the best values in two-burner stoves. It performs well, has reasonable BTU burner output, is light, and is very easy to use and transport. We think of it as the perfect stove for 2-4 trips a year, for 2-4 people, for 2-4 days."

Camp Chef Pro 60 - winner of the Top Pick award for 2012. This award is given to a product that excels at a specific application. According to McNamara, "The Camp Chef Pro 60 is our favorite stove for camping with groups of eight or more and it wins our Top Pick award as the best group camping stove. It has the best burners, biggest cooking surface and best flame control. "
