Four flavors will be first canned kombucha available nationwide
Publish date:

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 2, 2018) — Brew Dr. Kombucha is the first major kombucha brand to offer its delicious, refreshing beverages in aluminum cans nationwide. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s Clear Mind, Love, and Mint Lemonade flavors are now available in all Whole Foods Market stores. A fourth flavor, Ginger Turmeric, is available in limited distribution.

“Our customers and our employees all live active lifestyles so putting our kombucha in travel-friendly cans was a natural evolution for our product,” said Matt Thomas, founder and CEO of Brew Dr. Kombucha. “Our new packaging makes it convenient to bring your favorite drink to the beach, festivals, parks, mountains, hiking, and everywhere we like to go. Aluminum cans are more readily and frequently recycled, not to mention easier for consumers of all ages to enjoy.”

Since launching Brew Dr. Kombucha in 2008 from the kitchens of Townshend’s Teahouses, the brand has continued to innovate its kombucha-making process. Using a specially designed distillery, Brew Dr. Kombucha removes the alcohol from the fermented tea without the use of heat, preserving the beverage’s beneficial live and active cultures. All varieties use Townshend’s custom organic tea blends, herbs, and botanicals resulting in a smooth and balanced taste. No juices. No artificial flavorings. No funny business.

A fan favorite, Clear Mind is made using a blend of rosemary, mint, sage and green tea to produce a bright, invigorating flavor. The Love flavor combines jasmine and lavender to create a refreshing floral brew and gives back to 1% for the Planet. Mint Lemonade features spearmint, peppermint, lemons and green tea to create a classic combination that is light and delicious. Ginger Turmeric is a zesty beverage of ginger and turmeric presenting the perfect botanical blend for any time of day.

Brew Dr.’s canned varieties are available in packs of four 12-ounce cans and retail for $11.99. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s new cans will be distributed across the U.S.

About Brew Dr. Kombucha
Townshend’s Tea Company was started by Matt Thomas in 2006 with the idea of serving great teas in a casual teahouse setting. Over the years, the effort of presenting the wide world of tea to their guests has expanded the Townshend’s collection to over 120 tea offerings, including classic teas, rare varieties, chai latte recipes made from scratch, Taiwanese bubble tea, and an herbal apothecary line. The company now operates nine teahouses in Oregon, Montana and Utah.

In 2008, the company began making kombucha in the kitchens of their then two teahouses, giving it the name Brew Dr. Kombucha. It was only natural for them to choose some of the same great custom tea blends they had developed for service at their popular teahouses and ferment those into kombucha. It turns out that approach is unique, as most commercially available kombucha is flavored with juice at the time of bottling. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s flavor profiles come from attention to the quality and formulation of the organic tea and botanicals used, creating a difference you can taste.
