BOSTON, Mass. – When it comes to competing in triathlons, having the right gear is just as important as possessing speed, versatility, and poise. Today, BMC Switzerland, a global manufacturer of premium, high-performance bicycles, strengthens their athlete roster with the addition of standout triathletes Uli Brömme and Mackenzie Madison.
“Partnering with such ambassadors of the sport like Uli and Mackenzie is a perfect fit for BMC and a positive step towards helping grow the sport,” said Devin Riley, BMC Switzerland’s Director of Marketing in the U.S. “BMC’s diverse athlete roster, coupled with superior bicycle technology, offers a winning combination across numerous categories. We’re excited to have Uli and Mackenzie join the family.”
The signing of these accomplished female racers brings greater presence of the BMC brand to the sport of triathlon and creates a connection between premier athletes and authentic bicycle craftsmanship. Riding the timemachine TM01, the bike that helped Andreas Raelert set the fastest Ironman-distance bike split in Hawaii, will give Brömme and Madison support to speed through the season. The TM01 has been recognized with top honors around the world for being super lightweight, offering ideal rider position, boasting a top-notch component package, and possessing optimal ride and handling characteristics.
Hailing from Halle/Saale, Germany, Brömme currently resides in Boulder, Colo., where she is training to make an impact on the 2013 Ironman circuit. Brömme attended Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., where she competed in NCAA Division I track and cross-country. While her collegiate running formed a solid endurance base, it was not until after college that Brömme started running marathons.
In 2006, Brömme started her triathlon career. Her top accomplishments include a win at 2010’s USA Triathlon Regional Championships, top rankings in 2011’s Ironman Hawaii World Championship, and posting the fastest run and bike times at 2012 Littlefoot Sprint.
"I feel extremely fortunate to represent BMC this season,” said Brömme. “As someone who looks at equipment to help achieve my best performance, I see BMC as a perfect match with their unsurpassed precision and cutting edge style. I am looking forward to racing on the super fast TM01 in 2013."
An accomplished triathlete and coach, Mackenzie possesses a strong stature and knowledge of the sport. She received her Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oregon, and her Bachelors in Kinesiology and Minor in Coaching from Iowa State University. During her triathlon career, Mackenize took third at Ironman Canada in 2010, first place at the Pacific Crest Northwest Championships in 2011 and 2012, and third at the Ironman 70.3 Lake Stevens in 2012.
“I strongly believe in the power of hard work and preparation,” said Madison. “The precision of the construction and design of the BMC bikes is the perfect tool to maximize the work I put in and allows me to race to the best of my ability. I’m excited to be an ambassador for such an amazing machine.”
With several successful full-length Ironman competitions under their belts, Brömme and Mackenzie began their 2013 racing schedule with the Ironman 70.3 California Oceanside on March 30.
