CHICAGO, May 1 -- Bally Total Fitness (NYSE: BFT - News), the nation's leader in health and fitness, has opened a new franchise in Seoul, Korea. The club marks the fourth fitness center operated by Bally franchisees in Seoul, which has been a growing market for the fitness company since 2003, when the first Bally Total Fitness franchise opened.

The new club addresses the need for quality fitness centers in South Korea, a country that is fighting increasing rates of obesity and has initiated several government programs to educate consumers about health and fitness. The new fitness center opened in March and features state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training equipment, as well as personal training and group exercise classes. Additional club amenities include a stretching room and sauna. The club is located at the following address: 2nd Floor, Rodeo Wok, 55-5, Mullae-dong3ga, Yeongdeungpo-gu.

International growth through franchising has been steady for Bally Total Fitness over the past several years, making Bally an emerging international brand. In recent months, the fitness leader has renewed its focus on franchising and recently brought Robert Moschorak on board as managing director of franchise operations to lead the charge.

According to Paul Toback, chairman and CEO of Bally Total Fitness, "We are pleased with the continued success in franchising we have seen overseas and are excited to renew our focus on domestic franchise expansion as well. We expect franchising to play a large role in advancing our business this year and in the future."
