What have you found to be the most popular items so far in 2012?

I believe ellipticals have shown to be very popular so far, and we carry the new Helix machine, which we have had early success with thus far.

What do you think fitness retailers need to do to remain profitable in the future?

Retailers just need to smart about where they are spending their money — i.e., advertising, buying dead inventory etc. They need to run a tight ship.

Of all the new technology manufacturers are coming out with, what is your favorite and why?

Of course any touchscreen and/or iPhone/iPod connection, and the improvements to the Life Fitness Club Series are all very good.

What do you think are some of the biggest fitness trends of 2012?

I think fitness accessories are making a nice comeback this year, and again the Helix unit is a fresh take on ellipticals. I would like to see the strength lines come out with something new.

What is your favorite part about working in the fitness industry?

Of course, a cliché: "I love helping people with their fitness goal.” But this job gives me some freedom versus a 9-5 job.
